Great karaoke if you're a fan of rock and roll. Lots of horror and personal signed items on the wall. As a metal fan that's a loves karaoke it felt welcoming and like home.

Really fun small venue for shows, I was pleasantly surprised!

Such a solid dive bar with incredible food and beer selection. I’ve gone here for many shows hosted upstairs. Such a cool space and blast from the past.

One of my favorite bands, Spirit Animal played here. Ate dinner, had the baked bacon mac & cheese. It was a small dish, delicious, but not as much as I thought for the price. However I was full after I finished. Great atmosphere. No smoking venue.

I love this place. The prices at Smiling Moose are more fitting of a small-town hole-in-the-wall dive bar than they are South Side. The bartenders are always super nice. There are very different vibes upstairs vs downstairs. Downstairs has plenty of seating and tables, but upstairs is basically a concert venue with a stage and bar in the back. They have $3 drinks specials from either 9-11 or 10-12 every night. Also $1.50 PBRs on special on Saturdays. This place is great.

Ok. To Give the moose five stars needs explanation. It's sort of a dive bar, but it does things differently. For starters, they have some extremely cool shows here, different than the other things you'll find on Carson..by quite a ways. Aside from the fact that it's got a terrific venue set up upstairs (and even downstairs sometimes) there must be something said about the food they serve. This place hired someone who elevated the food far beyond a dive bars typical menu. I used to get lunch down here at least twice a week when I worked in the flats. Their Habanero burger is something that deserves an award of some kind. It's spicy (obviously) so if you don't like that...don't get it. With that being said, it's SOOOO GOOOD. Please order one and come thank me later.

Food is mediocre and the environment is overall dark. They run occasional shows in the upstairs bar, but it is cramped and hot.

The Kevin Bacon burger was absolutely delicious. The fries are splendid.

Loved this bar. We heard 50’s music to Gwar on steady rotation and they have good priced beers and drinks! The atmosphere was great. It’s more of a hole in the wall bar but nicer than most! We will return when we visit again for sure!! Good times were had!

Good bar for craft beer and upscale bar food in a down to earth setting. With good weekly specials on top of their already reasonably priced menu, the moose never disappoints. Bar trivia on Thursday nights is a must as well.

Staff was great, food was even better!! First time I've actually been there- I've had the food through grub hub before. Food is always good, shrimp po boy is my favorite- was pleasantly surprised by how great the staff was tonight as well!! 10 out of 10 recommend, will be back and, soon!!

Had never heard of this place before we attended a show one night. The downstairs bar is very generous, but the upstairs bar can be very stingy. We had a good time, but they definitely could have put more effort into the show. Also- filthy bathroom, avoid if possible.

Sweet Jesus this place is incredible. The bartender’s attitude, the vibe, the beer, the works. I don’t know how the bartender Kat got to be so cool but thank you to everyone and everything in her life that got her to this point. Had such a great time and can’t wait to come back. Also they have a huge projector screen that is perfect for 76ers games!

One of the few late night spots on the South Side that isn't a complete drag. Their pop punk night is really fun.

Great punk rock style intimate venue for local bands and performers! Lots of fun - it does turn into an oven with everyone's body heat pretty quick! Fun place to have a drink and meet interesting people.

This place is awesome. The bartender was super nice and funny, the food was amazing. I would totally recommend the fires they are to die for. A good place for a good night out or a good meal.

The food I got was quite good but only got 1/2of my order when i called to explain and have driver go back was told i had to call hub grub who very nicely told me they would refund my money. But my problem is if I didnt want the food why. would I order it. Bad customer service from Smiling Moose and hub grub. First and last time

Awesome place to see shows upstairs!! Very close and meet the artists. Downstairs has more room, and a huge projector tv for watching whatever sports or movies. Fun events there, great service and amazing employees. Can't argue with their food either. Daily specials or a permanent item

*** I've only been to the concert venue upstairs, I haven't been to the bar/restaurant at all beyond walking through to get upstairs***Very nice venue. Good atmosphere, intimate with the bands and other concertgoers. The bar staff happily provide free water. There are bathrooms for men and women inside the venue, the men's room is nicer than most public restrooms. The venue can be kind of crowded, if you don't like being surrounded by people, this may not be the place for you. The bar downstairs is normally pretty full as well, even on weeknights.

The Smiling Moose offers expertly prepared and interesting bar food. The chef, sourced from one of the Southside's high-end restaurants uses high quality ingredients with a twist. Try the Habanero Burger. The Smiling Moose is also one of Pittsburgh's last great music venues that welcomes touring bands. Bands play upstairs, so its not disruptive if you just want to have dinner or a drink.Its been great to watch the Moose change and adapt over the years, turning from a metal scene bare bones bar to great place to eat, drink, and hangout for all sorts of people.

So I ordered here from Grubhub, and Grubhub failed to get a driver to get my food. One of the owners or staff was generous enough to call and assist me in getting my food. This was my first time eating food from here & I gotta say it's amazing. The Shrimp Po Boy, Tony Montana Cuban & Smiling Classic Mac & Cheese deff highly recommend. Whenever this corona thing over or whenever possible love to stop in and eat & drink here.

One of my fave spots to perform and to see shows. It's always a blast here!

Great venue for show only odd thing was you cant bring drinks from the bar downstairs upstairs and If you wanna drink upstairs at the show you need to stay back by the bar where you can't really see the stage.

I’ve been to so many great shows here - I love this venue. It’s small enough and gives an intimate vibe which is really good! The staff has always been friendly and the food is REALLY nice.
